What to Expect from Your First Cycling Class with Oxygen Studio
Spinning classes have been around for decades, but a lot has changed since the days of hairspray and big hair. These days, cycling classes are fast-paced, full-body workouts that pack a lot of great exercise into just a short amount of time. Regardless of your fitness level, there is always the perfect indoor cycling fitness class for you. Whether you have pedaled thousands of miles on tracks or have never been on a bike before, here’s what to expect during your first cycling class.
1) A Friendly Atmosphere
This class isn’t about competition; it’s about belonging to a team. We are all working together to achieve our fitness goals. Everyone will be filled with warm energy and great vibes that will emit during your session. So arrive early and get to know some of the people you’ll be sharing the class with. 2) Get Your Bike Ready
This is another reason to arrive early. You want to make sure you are comfortable as this is a high-intensity workout. Remember to set up your indoor cycling bike like a pro. Make sure the seat is at the correct height, and the pedals are at the right angle. Test things out a little to make sure everything is running smoothly and feels comfortable to you. You can even cycle for a few minutes to get a bit of a pre-warm up in!
3) Day 1 Doesn’t Equal Easy Day
Don’t think just because it is your first day that things are going to be easy. The class is designed to challenge you from the start. A cycling class is a high intensity and fast-paced workout. Even if you are a regular cyclist, keeping up can still be a challenge, but that’s the point. The first few classes are going to push you, but your body will start getting stronger as you get into better and better shape!
4) Go at Your Own Pace
The main idea of a cycling class is that everybody sticks together throughout the entire session. But this can be a little difficult for the first few sessions. Don’t worry! Everyone has been there. If you need a break, then take a break, or slow down. Just make sure you try your hardest to hang in there as much as you can.
5) Towel and Water
This is fitness 101, but easy to forget on the first day of class. After fifteen minutes, of course, the handlebars might start to get sweaty, and you might get thirsty. Do a quick towel rubdown of your machine and rehydrate so you can stay in the flow of the class.
